Want To Donate Blood? – Don’t Be A Gay Dude

Am I the only one who didn’t know that if you’re gay male – or ever had a homosexual experience with another guy, even once – that you’re banned from donating blood for life?

I just read this article by Senator John Kerry, yeah the guy who lost in 2004 to Georgie, arguing for a repeal to the federal ban on gay man blood.

A Choke-Proof Hot Dog

I don’t know what it is about this article on hot dogs, but I find it hilarious. Any conversation involving a hot dog is inherently funny. Just the concept of a choke-proof hot dog conjures up a lot of funny ideas – what about rectangular shapes, for example. A couple of highlights from the article:

If you were to take the best engineers in the world and try to design the perfect plug for a child’s airway, it would be a hot dog[.]

Because the best engineers in the world would sign up for that gig.

Utah Conservatives: Let’s Eliminate the 12th Grade

Quality Idea: The gist is, Utah is kinda broke – like every other state, in order to save some money some Conservatives have suggested eliminating mandatory 12th grade. I can’t see how some people might be against this.

Delta Airlines Fucking People Even Harder Than Before

Heineken Buys Femsa, Brewer of Tecate

Because I drink a lot of beer, I thought this was newsworthy: Heineken is buying Femsa, the brewery that makes Tecate, Dos Equis, and Sol for 7.6 billion. I thought these two sentences from the article were kind of funny:

The deal will give Heineken, which brews Amstel and other beers[.]

What’s interesting to me is that they mention that Heineken, the brewery, makes Amstel, which really no-one in the US drinks, but they fail to mention the obvious choice of Heineken, the beer. Maybe it’s just too obvious?

The other thing I noticed which is really just funny more than anything is that Heineken’s Nasdaq symbol is HINKY.

U.S. Limits Tarmac Waits for Passengers to 3 Hours

The NY Times has an article about the Transportation Department limiting tarmac waits for passengers to three Hours. We’ve been doing a lot of flying this month – a trip to Las Vegas for Barrett & Lindsay’s wedding and a trip to Reno to see my grandparents for Christmas. Our flight to Las Vegas was pretty much horrible. On a plane change in Minneapolis, we probably spent a total time of four hours just sitting on a plane that wasn’t moving – actually 2 separate planes. I imagine the fines that will be imposed will be pretty damaging to Delta.

(If you hadn’t guessed, we flew Delta)
