Lately, I’m Politically Disappointed

Clearly, I’m little left-leaning in my political theory. That being said, I’m a little disappointed with the Great Black Hope lately. This graphic sums it up:

I’m just trying to think of the shit he’s done lately that has pissed me off.

He said he wants to continue Bush’s taxpayer facilitated, religious-based initiatives. Expand them even.

Agreeing with the Conservative side, and the losing side, of the Supreme Court on their recent Death Penalty ruling.

Then there is that whole FISA thing.

I feel like I could rant for a while about this shit, but I like pictures.

iChat

On Friday, had my first video-chat via iChat. My dad is up in Montreal visiting his brother John and his wife Dal. After fiddling with iChat trying to get it to work, we ended up needing Dal to sign up for a free AIM account. I only have an AIM account and she only had a .mac account. I’ve been told that these two services can talk to each other fine, however it was not the case for us. Regular IM worked, but not A/V chat. I figured the problem lie in the mixing of the two services. The solution was for either myself to purchase a .mac account or for Dal to get an AIM account. The free solution won out. So if anyone else out there happens to find the problem where you would click to accept a video chat invitation, but it would then say that you failed to respond, try using two AIM accounts. Worked for us. Anyways, everyone is doing fine up in Canada. It was a nice relaxing weekend for myself and the wife. A much needed restful weekend, I might add. Anywho, time for bed.

That’s Funny

I received a phone call from my brother today. Here’s how it went:

R: I’ve got a funny story to tell you.
Me: Are you going to jail?
R: No. Dad called me today.
Me: Oh? What about.
R. He was working on his truck today in the driveway and two patrol cars rolled up.
Me: Ha. Why? Is he going to jail?
R: No. They walked up to him and said, ‘Are you David?’. ‘Yes’. ‘We’re currently in hot pursuit of someone we presume to be your son. We have reason to believe that he stole a Red, Ninja Motorcycle. We need to look under that tarp over there to see if the motorcycle is under it.’
Me: Holy fucking shit, that’s hilarious.
R: I thought so, too.

My brother now lives in the KC-metro area, less than five blocks from me. My dad lives in Manhattan - 2 hours away from my house. Also, my brother talked to one of his friends in Manhattan and his friend told him that there were a handful of cop cars around his old house.

Ah, hilarity.

A Bit Of Education For The Day

I found this post, entitled What Every American Should Know About the Middle East, rather educational today. It’s a quick explaination / comparison of such things as Arabs, Muslims, Islam, Iranians, Persians, Shia, and Sunni. I can’t say I learned anything, per se, but it’s a nice single location to find such information. As a bit of a tangent, I think the word American in the title is unnecessary. It should be replaced with Everyone. With the way the world is right now, I would think everyone should know these things - in particular governmental figures.

Just upgraded WordPress to the 2.5 version here on MrAsher.com. No problems with the theme, which I’ve been meaning to change but haven’t gotten around to it, nor any problems with the plugins I have already have installed. Yay for that.

Chris Dodd is still railing against retroactive immunity for telecoms and I think that’s great. I’ve written about Chris Dodd before and I really don’t think the guy gets enough credit for the work he’s doing. More Democrats like him, please.
